Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a branch of chemistry which deals with the study of organic chemistry (molecules and compounds) in combination with structural & chemical biology and pharmacology for producing pharmaceutical drugs and medicines. The design, structure and synthesis of pharmaceuticals and biologically active molecules are a part of this branch.

We start our B. Pharm course with general chemistry and organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is a very important and valuable subject. It is the very essence of all life on our planet. The department is well equipped to introduce these fundamental subjects to the students so that a strong foundation is laid at the very beginning. This foundation serves as the building block for all other subjects in the entire B. Pharm course. 

The major objective of the department is to enlighten the requisite skills, develop the desired competencies and meet the pharmaceutical care standards embraced by the faculty in the teaching of their courses. This led us to impart quality education in this great institution.

  • Provide students with opportunities to engage in discovery and development of new knowledge, while also developing critical thinking skills and gaining a foundation of basic chemical knowledge necessary for a career in chemistry.

  • To expertise the students in the emerging areas of Drug Design and Development, Documentation/Research writing expertise. 


  • The mission of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is to provide educational programs that would encourage students to read critically, reason analytically, communicate persuasively, and apply professionally,and alsoto address the most pressing chemical challenges of our time while nurturing the next generation of innovative scientists and leaders.
